CCTV, access control, intruder alarms and lockdown for schools and academies in Chatham, Gillingham, Rochester, Strood and Rainham. Built around DfE guidance, KCSiE and Martyn's Law. Free site survey, no obligation.
Medway is not part of Kent County Council. It has been a unitary authority since 1998, so its maintained schools sit under Medway Council rather than County Hall in Maidstone, and secondary selection runs on its own Medway Test rather than the Kent Test. That matters for security work: funding routes, frameworks and who signs off a specification are different from the rest of the county.
Much of the school estate across Chatham, Gillingham, Rochester, Strood and Rainham is now run by academy trusts, several of which also operate schools in Kent. Trusts working on both sides of the boundary often want one security standard and one maintenance contract across every site. We design to exactly that.
We are based in Whitstable, under an hour from the Medway towns along the M2. Every survey is carried out by our own engineers, and the same team installs and maintains what we design.
Straightforward from first contact to handover. No surprises.
All six security disciplines available under one contract — simplifying procurement, maintenance and accountability.
4K cameras, AI analytics, 31-day encrypted retention, designed with UK GDPR requirements in mind. Designed around DfE guidance on camera placement and KCSiE safeguarding blind spots.
View CCTV →Role-based access, visitor management with photo capture and audit trails, and dynamic lockdown capability. Designed to support KCSIE safeguarding duties. Integrates with CCTV.
View Access Control →Grade 2 and Grade 3 intruder alarm systems to PD 6662 and BS EN 50131. Documentation prepared for insurer requirements. Integrated with CCTV and access control.
View Intruder Alarms →BS 5839-1 addressable fire detection and alarm systems. Category L1 to L5 coverage levels. Full commissioning certificate and cause-and-effect matrix.
View Fire Systems →Round-the-clock alarm and CCTV monitoring via independently approved Alarm Receiving Centres. Verified response — not just recording.
View Monitoring →Dedicated security wireless networks for sites where cabling is impractical. Listed buildings, multi-building campuses, temporary sites. No cable routes required.
View Wireless →Lockdown. A lockdown has to be signalled in a way nobody can mistake for a fire evacuation. BS 5839-1 requires lockdown signals to be clearly distinguishable from fire alarm signals, so bolting a lockdown tone onto the fire panel is not a shortcut. We design lockdown alerting alongside access control, so that one action can secure external doors and alert staff. We then write it into a procedure your staff can actually follow. Our free lockdown procedure generator is a good place to start.
Inherited systems. Many Medway schools have changed hands between trusts, and the security systems came with them: cameras nobody has the passwords for, alarm panels with no maintenance records, access control installed by a company that no longer exists. We take over systems on any make and any age, starting with an audit of what you actually have.
The starting point is the same either way: a free survey, a written assessment, and an honest conversation about what your school needs and what it will cost. We do not win work by telling schools they need more than they do.
No account required. Instant results. No obligation.
Find out your tier, your specific obligations and your compliance gaps. Takes five minutes. Generates a downloadable readiness report you can take to your governors.
Run Assessment →Step-by-step compliance assessment against DfE guidance, KCSiE, UK GDPR and Martyn's Law. Identifies gaps and generates a prioritised action plan.
Run Compliance Check →Generate a complete lockdown procedure, structured around DfE guidance, as a print-ready PDF. Suitable for governor approval and Martyn's Law documentation.
Generate Procedure →Indicative capital cost for CCTV, access control and alarms based on your site type and size. Helps build the financial case for governors or the trust board.
Estimate Costs →We will visit your school, look at your current security systems and how the site is used, and give you a written summary of what we found and what we would recommend. It is free, with no obligation to proceed. We are a security systems specialist, not a compliance consultancy: for Martyn's Law, start with the official guidance, which our free Martyn's Law guide links to in full.
