Step 1 of 5
Step 1 — Venue Type

What best describes your venue?

Martyn's Law applies to any premises or event that admits members of the public. Select the category that best fits your primary use.

Step 2 — Venue Capacity

What is your maximum capacity?

This is the maximum number of people your premises can hold at any one time — including staff, visitors and contractors. For schools, this includes pupils, staff and any visitors on site simultaneously.

👥

Not sure? Use your fire risk assessment maximum occupancy figure.

Step 3 — Procedures

Which procedures do you currently have in place?

Select all that apply. Be honest — this assessment is only useful if it reflects your actual current position.

Written evacuation and invacuation procedures for a terrorist attack
Lockdown procedures (shelter in place / dynamic lockdown)
Communication plan for alerting staff and visitors during an incident
Counter-terrorism awareness training completed by staff (e.g. ACT Awareness)
Named Responsible Person / Senior Leadership owner for security preparedness
Security procedures reviewed within the last 12 months
Step 4 — Physical Security

What physical security measures are in place?

Select all that currently exist at your venue. These will determine your readiness score and gap analysis.

CCTV covering main entrances, perimeter and public areas
Electronic access control on main entry points
Intercom / video door entry controlling visitor access
Perimeter fencing / barriers preventing unauthorised vehicle or pedestrian access
Intruder alarm system professionally installed and monitored
24/7 remote monitoring by an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC)
Security lighting covering external areas and car parks
CCTV signage and privacy notices displayed (UK GDPR / Surveillance Camera Code)
