What does the security compliance checker cover?

Safeguarding and site access under KCSiE, data protection for CCTV and visitor records under UK GDPR, fire detection under BS 5839-1 and the Fire Safety Order, intruder alarm design under BS 8243, and public space CCTV under the Surveillance Camera Code of Practice. Questions change depending on whether you are a school, trust, college, council or NHS body.

Does it check Martyn's Law compliance?

It touches on preparedness, but the Martyn's Law readiness assessment is the dedicated tool. Remember that schools are always in the standard tier, which requires procedures and staff awareness rather than equipment, and that the Act is not yet in force.

Is the result a compliance certificate?

No. The scorecard is an indicative self-assessment to help you decide where to look first. For an independent, on-site review with a written gap report, book the annual security audit.

What should I do with the gaps it finds?

Deal with anything affecting life safety first, such as fire detection and escape door releases, then data protection gaps such as a missing DPIA or retention policy, then physical security. Many gaps are paperwork and cost nothing to fix.
