About

An engineer first

Marc began his career in 1999 as a network engineer with Pinacl Solutions, building and maintaining networks in some of the least forgiving environments in the UK: trading floors at Lehman Brothers, an IBM data centre and Barclays' branch network. That work taught him the habits that matter most in security: test everything, record everything, and fix faults before the client notices them.

His last major Pinacl project was the WiFi and CCTV installation at the British Museum, where he managed the site engineers, arranged clearances with English Heritage and certified every cable run with a Fluke DTX-1800 tester.

In 2015 he joined Sunstone Systems in Canterbury as Senior IP Systems Engineer, working alongside Simon Legrand. Over eleven years he became Head of Engineering and Facilities and then Head of Installation and Maintenance, responsible for every installation and maintenance job carried out by Sunstone's engineers and contractors. That covered IP CCTV, access control, intruder alarms, wireless networks and point-to-point bridges, and solar-powered CCTV deployments across the UK and overseas. He also led health and safety, risk assessments and method statements, and worked with the research and development team on new system designs.

At Fyrfly, Marc brings that experience to schools and the public sector. He is manufacturer-qualified to specify, install and maintain the platforms most commonly found on UK school and public sector sites, which matters as much for taking over and maintaining existing systems as it does for new installations.

Qualifications

Qualified to specify, install and maintain

Marc holds manufacturer qualifications across seven platforms. In practice that means he can design a new system on them, install it to the manufacturer's standard, and take over and maintain one somebody else installed.
