The Bursar's Dilemma

Every line of the budget is under scrutiny. Security should not be the exception.

With VAT now applied to fees, boards everywhere are asking the same question: where can we reduce cost without reducing provision? Security maintenance is often the answer hiding in plain sight, a contract inherited years ago, renewed automatically, and rarely benchmarked against what the same cover should actually cost.

We will review your current maintenance contract free of charge and give you a one-page, governor-ready comparison. Schools typically find savings of 15 to 30 percent. If your existing arrangement turns out to be good value, we will tell you that too.

No site visit required. No obligation. Just your current schedule of cover and ten minutes.

15-30%
Typical maintenance savings identified against inherited, auto-renewed contracts
One-page, governor-ready comparison A clear like-for-like summary your board can read and approve in minutes
Ten minutes, no site visit Send us your current schedule of cover and we do the rest, with no obligation either way
Discretion as Standard

Some of your pupils need more than a locked gate.

Independent schools are entrusted with children whose families, for reasons of public profile, position or circumstance, require an elevated level of care around who enters a site, how movements are managed, and how quickly staff can respond.

That level of assurance does not come from a camera catalogue. It comes from systems designed as one: access control that knows who should be where, CCTV with intelligent analytics watching the perimeter, and lockdown capability that works in seconds, not minutes, all maintained by one accountable team, never subcontracted.

We have provided exactly this for independent schools for years. We would be glad to explain how, in person and in confidence.

Access control that knows who should be where Managed visitor flow, staff and pupil credentials, and safeguarding-led zoning across the estate
CCTV with intelligent analytics Perimeter monitoring that flags what matters, designed around safeguarding rather than technology for its own sake
Lockdown that works in seconds Integrated lockdown capability tied into access and communications, tested and understood by staff
Documented procedures
Evacuation, invacuation, lockdown and communication procedures, written down and workable, not just filed.
Regulator notification
Notification to the Security Industry Authority as the regulator for the new regime.
Plan now, not later
The schools handling this well are mapping their gaps now, as planned expenditure rather than a last-minute scramble.
Martyn's Law

Spring 2027 is closer than it looks.

The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, Martyn's Law, brings schools expecting 200 or more people on site into a new statutory regime, regulated by the Security Industry Authority. Statutory guidance is published, and the duties are expected to come into force in spring 2027, after an implementation period of at least 24 months from Royal Assent.

The duties are proportionate, but they are real. Our free assessment tells you your school's position in about three minutes. No registration. Nothing stored. No follow-up unless you ask for one.
